Support for Cadets and Seafarers

Prioritising Your Wellbeing at Sea

A career at sea offers endless possibilities, but the lifestyle and time away from home can be challenging. Cadetships come with high academic demands and new situations to adapt to, making it even more important to prioritize your physical and mental health.

Support When You Need It

At Stream Marine Careers, we encourage you to reach out to our experienced team if you need extra support during your training. We’re here to help, and you can always talk to us.

External Support Resources

In addition to our support, several organisations are available to seafarers for assistance at any time. Below, you’ll find a list of these resources to ensure you have access to the help you need.

Sailors Society

The sailors society is a global maritime welfare charity that support seafarers and their families all year round. They have an abundance of wellness resources for seafarers including Cadets. I encourage you all to sign up for the free wellness at sea e-learning. This will give you all access to tools and resources to help you have a happy and fulfilling career at sea. They also have podcasts, a 24/7 helpline and instant chat if you ever need someone to talk to, we hope you can always come and chat to SMC about any issues your having to allow us to support you, but this is also an excellent place for support. They also have groups you can join for peer-to-peer support. To learn more and access the free e-learning, use the following link: Sailors Society Website
